Please read this!

Dr Livingstone provides acupuncture treatments for a wide variety of conditions. However, not every problem is suitable for acupuncture treatment and some problems respond better than others. In addition, like all therapists, Dr Livingstone is experienced in treating some conditions but prefers not to treat others.

Please read the following information carefully before making an appointment.

Dr Livingstone offers treatments for the following conditions:

  • Pain, from a variety of causes:
    osteoarthritis
    neck and shoulder pain
    frozen shoulder
    tendinitis
    back pain
    knee pain
    tennis elbow, golfer's elbow
other pains coming from muscles and joints
    trigeminal neuralgia (pain in face)
    shingles pain (post-herpetic neuralgia)
  • Headache and migraine
  • Nausea and morning sickness
  • Hay fever, allergic rhinitis and other sinus problems
  • As an aid to fertility treatments
  • Insomnia
  • Tinnitus (but with less than 50% success rate)

Dr Livingstone does not treat people for the following:

  • Losing weight
  • Stopping smoking
  • Skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema
  • Beauty treatments and "Face lifts"
  • As a general "tonic" for tiredness
  • Anxiety and other psychological problems
  • Depression

Treatment for Children

Children can be treated with acupuncture and may respond surprisingly well. However, the child must be old enough to:
  1. understand what is going to happen during treatment
  2. understand why they are having treatment
  3. must be able to give their consent for the treatment
This means that the child needs to be at least 12 years old, and possibly older, before they are mature enough to understand the treatment.

Acupuncture is not suitable for children who are frightened of needles.
