The Out-of-Hours Service

The Out-of-Hours emergency service provides assessment, advice and treatment for urgent medical conditions during the time when the Surgery is closed. Telephone 111 The service is provided by Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust and operates at the following times:- Evenings, from 6:30pm
- All night until 8:00 am the next day
- Weekends, from 6:30pm Friday until 8:00am Monday
- Bank holidays, all day until 8:00am the next working day
How does it work?
When you ring the 111 number, you will speak to a trained call adviser, based at the 111 call centre. The call adviser will take your name and address and will ask you a few questions about your medical condition. If you are seriously ill, the call adviser may send an emergency ambulance out. Otherwise, you will be asked further questions to determine what type of help you need.What happens next?
- Advice: if all you need is some advice, this may be dealt with on the telephone.
- The 111 call advisers can also direct you to your nearest pharmacy, dentist, A&E department, etc.
- Consultations at the Out-of-Hours Emergency Care Centre: a face to face consultation may be offered at one of the Centres where there is a range of equipment availabe and a stock of emergency drugs.
- Home visits: are available if you are too ill to attend the Centre or if you are normally housebound.
Where are the Out-of-Hours Emergency Care Centres?
The Stamford Centre: is based at Stamford Hospital and is open until 11:00pm at night. There is a doctor on duty every evening and a number of doctors and nurses are available at weekends.The Grantham Centre is based at Grantham Hospital and is open all night.
The Centres are run on an appointment basis. They do not provide A&E facilities and cannot deal with minor injuries. Please telephone the 111 number first to discuss your problem with the call advisors.
